The Stars Aligned 4 Me

I always run by myself.  It’s my time to reflect, think or zone out.  Today was different.   I asked Alisa if she wanted to ride her bike while I ran.

I had her ride ahead of me for safety and as my pacer.  😉

I’m pretty competitive, but with that said, I generally *think* I’m pushing myself, but I never really knew for sure since there’s no one for me to compare myself to.

I guess the stars aligned for me today or something!  🙂

My personal record for a 5K while racing is 26:00, but my fastest ever was 25:43, until today!

I think it’s amazing how my body can do so much more than I think it can.  Boy, this was very hard.  I did stop twice.  Once for water and another to catch my breath since my little heart couldn’t keep up, but even if I didn’t, I would have still beat my P.R.

So the next time you think your body can’t, push yourself just a little harder and see what happens.  You might surprise yourself too!

This is the first time I have been truly happy since I lost my little buddy.  🙂

Hawt

If you know me, then you know I really dig the Victoria’s Secret super models.  My favorites are Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio & Gisele Bundchen (I know she’s a former angel, but don’t care, she’s hot!)

These girls are my motivation & inspiration to get off my lazy butt.  Maybe one day I’ll look half a good as they do in a bikini!

Miranda Kerr spills how she maintains her rockin’ body secrets at eonline.com;

“The first step is eating healthy.  I predominantly eat organic when I can. I eat extremely healthy because when I do, I have more energy.”

“I’m pretty much 80 percent healthy, 20 percent indulgent, because I don’t believe in depriving yourself,” she said, admitting she sometimes eats french fries.

Some of her go-to foods are “spinach, avocado, lots of greens and broccoli.”

As for her workout routine, she does yoga, Pilates and low resistance weight training.

“I also like to go on the stepping machine if I’m a hotel and I can’t get outside,” she added.

I’m in love!

I went to Sierra Running Company in Fresno, and was fitted for shoes.  These kicks are sweet!  I have narrow feet so these fit like a glove.

And so far, no knee pain at all!

It’s been another fun week over here and this weekend is going to get even better!

I will be running my first 10K tomorrow morning.  It’s the Blossom Trail Race in a little town called Sanger, CA.  Wahoo!  Can you tell I’m excited!?  Nerd alert!

Anyway I thought since I haven’t been posting about food in like forever, I’d show ya what I’ve been munching on.

Mixed organic greens with mushrooms, sweet cherry tomatoes & Trader Joe’s FF Balsamic dressing.  This stuff is so amazing!  It doesn’t taste like bottled dressing at all.  So good we bought a whole case of it last week.  🙂

And of course I’ve been eating my famous banana with breakfast every morning.  My day is just not complete without it.  LOL!

So the funniest thing happened this morning.  My dog, Pookie is known for not being the brightest bulb on the tree.  Seriously!  Anyway Alisa let the dogs out like usual and they were out there for the longest time.  Finally she came inside and said “I think Pookie has a bone stuck inside her mouth”.  So I ask if she’s choking and she replied “no, she just can’t close her mouth”.  So my husband said just call her inside.  So in walked the dumbest dog ever!  Sure enough, she had a bone stuck in the furthest part of her jaw.  I wish I would have taken a picture, but I was too busy eating and laughing.  Here she is~

Meet “Slim”

Yep, I got him yesterday and can’t put it down!  I had to name Slim because well, he’s not slim, but he’s gonna help keep me slim.  So cheesy, right!  Oh well!  🙂

Naturally, I was excited to take him out for a spin even though it was a chilly, breezy & 51* and the sun was hiding.  We until we were on our way home!  Of course it would have ta play games like that.

Since we were in Reedley, we had to check out the new Fresh & Easy that just opened yesterday.  It reminds me of Trader Joe’s so I am super excited to have a store like that so close!

Lunch was a 6 inch Veggie Delight on whole wheat from Subway.  Loved it!

I was not about to let that sun go down without enjoying it, so I hopped on my bike and did a 2.6 mile loop in 12:04 minutes.  My average pace was 12.3 mph.

Watch out hubby, I am starting to have feelings for Slim!

3-0 Birthday

Hello bloggies.  How’s it going?

Are you ready for one of the most random posts ever????

Here we go……

Well this winter weather has got me down, me thinks.  The sun won’t come out and now it’s raining.  I haven’t been running, which keeps me sane, but I did manage to round up my daughter yesterday evening for a 2 mile run while she rode her bike.  That helped a lot.  I can’t wait for spring!!!

I have exciting news though!  Since I will be turning 30 in April, I want to run my first half marathon!  I haven’t decided on a location yet, but it’s really fun looking for one.  I’ve been toying with this one.

Santa Cruz, CA.  Totally my style!  🙂

Anyway I’m getting ready to start training for the Mud Run in May so I’m going to start working on my training plan today and I will post it as soon as I have it done.  If anyone has ever trained for something similar to this, please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you did to train.  I’m looking for a few strategies.  😉

Progresso Review

Hello there!  How are ya?

The lovely people at MyBlogSpark contacted me & offered to send me a nice selection of their soups to try out a few weeks ago.   Check out the cool loot~

As you can see there were a lot to try so I will just feature my favorites.

Italian Style Meatball

I was actually a little hesitant to try this because I am not a fan of meatballs.  But I was pleasantly surprised.  The soup had a lot of Italian seasoning flavor and was quite filling.  The meatballs were very small and not mushy like I thought they would be.

This one reminded me of a Minestrone soup without the pasta.  It has a nice variety of veggies & kidney beans.  The flavor was pretty mild but still good.  I added a little shredded cheese and that enhanced the flavor.  I rounded this out with 1/2 a grapefruit and it kept me full until dinner.

Progresso Light Chicken & Dumpling Soup

My favorite one of all was the Chicken & Dumpling!  Sorry for the generic picture, my camera ate mine.  😦

It was creamy without being heavy and the flavor was spot on!  The only thing I think can be improved on was the dumplings were a bit dry on the inside, but overall I really enjoyed this one the most.

It’s funny how the salt content (in all soups) is generally high, but for some reason I can’t taste it?  But then again I love salt lol.
